Lukas Schilling (*1989) is a freelance artist and designer. He studied applied design and design studies in Schneeberg (Erzgeb.), Dublin and Halle.
The starting points of his works are often phenomena of altered states of consciousness, modifications of perception and the questioning of supposedly unambiguous sensory impressions. Following the general question of the relationship between cognition and imagination, Schilling's sculptures and installations are not only objects of one-sided observation, but also involve the viewer through elements of interactivity and reflexivity. Time and transience and their constitutive role in processes of perception and design are recurring themes in his work. In addition to his practical work, his design-theoretical research is dedicated to investigating the prerequisites and conditions of creative relationships with the environment.
